The Maturity Level Model for Genomics in Healthcare (GiH-MLM) is a structured framework designed to support healthcare systems in evaluating and advancing the integration of genomic medicine within their services. Based on a common reference matrix of indicators and maturity levels, it enables institutions to self-assess their current level of implementation in a consistent and comparable way. By providing a practical and harmonised assessment instrument, the GiH-MLM facilitates the effective adoption of genomics by healthcare systems, and contributes to promoting equitable access to personalised medicine globally.

Complementing this framework, the GiH-MLM Benchmarking Tool enables healthcare systems to benchmark their level of genomic medicine maturity with that of other national or regional counterparts, across all GiH-MLM indicators. Through structured, cross-system comparisons, the tool supports the identification of relative strengths and areas for improvement. It also facilitates longitudinal analysis, allowing healthcare systems to track progress over time by benchmarking current results against previous maturity assessments.

Access to the GiH-MLM Benchmarking Tool is available upon request. Please contact gihmlm.benchmarking@insa.min-saude.pt to receive access credentials.
